Teen Driver Training
Please read Frequently Asked Questions – Thank You
We know that you, as parents, want to ensure your child’s success and safety. Our extraordinary programs are designed to meet the current needs of your child with up-to-date information and the highest quality training techniques.
The Teen Driver Training Program consists of two segments:
1.) Our 8-hour classroom instruction has been created in a lecture-style/power point format that is engaging and fun. We exceed the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles requirements for content and instruction. The teen driver will learn the risks of driving, adjusting speed to conditions, driving in bad weather, aggressive visual searching techniques, and South Carolina State Law. We also thoroughly cover: Signs, Signals, and Markings, the mechanics of a turn, Emergency Procedures, Starting, Stopping and accelerating, Intersections, Angle, Perpendicular and Parallel Parking, Turns, Weather Driving, Sharing the Road with Large Vehicles...and yes, we teach each child about the DMV Road Test.
2.) Behind-the-Wheel instruction is a rigorous, 6 hour program (typically 3 driving lessons that are 2 hours each). Our driving instructors are certified by The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) and pass a South Carolina Law Enforcement Department (SLED) background check annually.
The student will experience driving through residential street, highway, interstate, and downtown situations which will give them the opportunity to experience driving situations they probably have not previously experienced.
We will provide a complete continuity of training by relating all of the subjects taught in the classroom to the actual driving situation. Your child will end each of their driving sessions with a clear idea about where their abilities are and what they need to practice between each session. We also will teach the necessary skills and maneuvers required to pass the DMV road test.
Advantage’s Driver Training Program is flexible and designed to meet the individual needs of each student. We go the extra mile to communicate with parents and students to find the REAL needs of each student.
